Chinese Medicine is holistic medicine at its fullest. Each person’s condition is unique and dynamic. In Chinese Medicine, the human being is viewed as part of the universe, in fact as a microcosm for the universe, and therefore susceptible to the same environmental influences. Imbalances of Yin and Yang, and of the Five Elements (Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, Fire) are considered to result in disease. It is the practitioner’s role to identify and treat the imbalances.
Acupuncture has been utilized for thousands of years to treat pain, restore organ function, and correct energetic imbalances. Small, sterile needles are inserted just under the skin, and retained for varied lengths of time, from a few seconds to an hour. Acupuncture usually is not painful, and most patients find it very relaxing. Frequency of treatments ranges from several times per week to once per month, depending on the patient’s condition.
Dr. David Daily is the only ND in Northern Arizona with an advanced degree in acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine (LAc). While the state of Arizona allows any general practicioner to practice 'acupuncture', very few have the knowledge and experience to effectively integrate acupunture into a natrual treatment program.
Chinese Herbal medicine is highly complementary to acupuncture, allowing patients to treat imbalances on a daily basis, between acupuncture sessions. While Chinese herbs come in various forms, we usually prescribe teas and powders, which are of the highest quality, and the most easily assimilated. The use of herbal medicine precedes that of acupuncture in ancient China.
